The Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme – an independent view The Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme has been set up by law to provide private individuals with a free, independent service for resolving disputes with financial firms operating from the Isle of Man. Companies are not eligible to use the Scheme. However, the Financial Services Ombudsman can’t deal with your case unless you’ve given Nationwide International the chance to put things right first. Under the provisions of the scheme, Nationwide International is required to deal with your complaint within 12 weeks of being notified. However, we believe it is important to resolve any issues as quickly as possible and undertake to settle all complaints within 8 weeks. The Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme usually requires you to take your complaint to them no later than 6 months from the date on Nationwide International’s letter giving you our final response.
